Rotary International is an international service organization formed in Chicago USA in 1905. With a history of more than 116 years, Rotary is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious organization connecting global business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service in over 200 countries. Today, Rotary has more than 1.2 million members in over 35,000 clubs around the worldwide. Rotary is structured in club, district and international levels. Members of Rotary Clubs are known as Rotarians. A Rotary Club may comprise 20 or up to 50-80 members, and sometimes over 200 members. We are neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Rotary International District 3450 (“RID 3450”) geographically covers Hong Kong, Macao, Mongolia and Guangdong Province, the PRC with over 100 Rotary Clubs and 2,600 members. Each Rotary Club designs and runs its own service projects both on domestic and international levels, thus promoting international fellowship and peace. Rotary Club of Hong Kong Harbour is one of the over 100 clubs of RID 3450. The 4-Way Test guides all Rotarians. Of the things we think, say or do: (1) Is it the TRUTH? (2) Is it FAIR to all concerned? (3) Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIP? (4) Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. Rotary’s people of action have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end.
Rotarians believe that we have a shared responsibility to take action on our world’s most persistent issues. As part of the Rotary family, we work together on seven areas of focus:
- Promoting peace
- Fighting disease
- Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
- Saving mothers and children
- Supporting education
- Growing local economies
- Protecting the environment
