Over the weekend of May 24-25, members of our Club went to Macau to attend the 65th District Conference. Members who were in attendance included: President David, Past Presidents Grace, Angela, WT, Lily, Mark, and Rotarian Joanna. Members reported having a lot of fun, especially at the Governor Banquet. On May 25, during the Awards lunch ceremony, we witnessed Diana Au Yeung, a long-time service partner of our Club, receiving the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Vocational Service from Governor Nigel, for her work promoting vocational service excellence with our Rotaractors and with the greater community.
On May 23, Past President Dora and Immediate Past President Jason flew to Taipei to attend the Club Anniversary of Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen. Our members reported being pampered by the generous hospitality of our sister club brothers and sisters.
On May 22, we welcomed Rotaractors from Cambodia to share with us their current community service projects. Rotaractors Bopha Touy and Vanna Bay came with Charter President Maria Hicks OAM and Past President Aviv Palti from Rotary Passport Club of Melbourne, Australia. Past President Aviv is a Rotaract Advisor of the Rotaract Club of Siem Reap, Cambodia, to which the Rotaractors belong. Other Visiting Rotarians included Past President Brendan Kierce from Rotary Club of Brighton, Past President Simon Castley from Rotary Club of Kowloon Golden Mile, Past President Betty Ko from Rotary Club of Hong Kong South, and Past President Leo Yu, from Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island East. Past President WT brought a guest, Mr. WT Law, who has extensive experience working in Cambodia.
On May 18, Past President Mark attended the Island Scout Trail Walk 2025 Virtual Run Prize Presentation Ceremony. Past President Mark also had the opportunity to present trophies to cub scouts who have walked over 500km over a 3-month period!
On May 8, our Club met at Regal Hong Kong Hotel for our regular lunch meeting. During the meeting, members shared episodes of crisis management. We all realized that all of us can think on one’s feet effectively and decisively, even in the most twisted circumstances!
