Rotary E-Club of Lantau Anniversary

On May 25, Past Presidents Grace, WT, Dora and Ricky, together with Rotarian Joanna, joined the 11th Anniversary Party of our daughter club, Rotary E-Club of Lantau. The celebration was held at The Murray, Hong Kong, bringing together Rotarians and friends for a joyful evening of fellowship. Members of our Club were delighted to celebrate this important milestone alongside friends from Rotary E-Club of Lantau and the wider Rotary family. The evening was filled with warm conversations, laughter, and renewed connections, reflecting the close and enduring relationship between our Clubs. The Anniversary Party was both elegant and lively, providing a wonderful opportunity to celebrate friendship, shared values, and the continued growth of Rotary service.

Club Leadership Learning Seminar

On April 18, members of our Club attended District’s Club Leadership Learning Seminar, previously known as the District Training Assembly. Past Presidents Grace, Angela, Lily, Mark and Jason, and Rotarian Joanna participated in this important learning event. During the seminar, members gained insights into the new presidential message for the Rotary Year 2026–27, as well as Governor Elect Jimmy’s priorities and vision for the District. The sessions provided valuable perspectives on leadership, service, and the evolving direction of Rotary. Notably, Past President Lily led one of the breakout sessions and also served as a panelist during an afternoon plenary session, contributing her experience and expertise to fellow Rotarians. The seminar was both enriching and inspiring, with everyone learning a great deal throughout the day. As the program concluded, members promptly made their way to Tai Tam to support our Club’s fundraising event, demonstrating their continued energy and commitment to service.

Rotary Ultramarathon

On March 1, a large delegation led by President David participated in Rotary Ultramarathon x End Polio Walk, organized by our District. A 50km relay team, managed by Past President Lily, comprised of: Past Presidents Jason, Webster and Mark, as well as two siblings and a cousin of Rotarian Joanna. The team managed to finish the 50km within 5 hours, and placed in the top one-third of all Rotary relay teams. Meanwhile, Rotarian Joanna joined Past Presidents Grace and Lily to cheerlead and participate in the shorter but festive End Polio Walk. Past President Lily was an organizing committee member, while Past President Webster, putting on his hat as Legislative Councillor, was one of the event’s guest of honors. Our Club was a Tier 1 supporter of End Polio Walk and a bronze supporter of the Ultramarathon.

Workshop for Caregivers

On February 7, President David, Past Presidents Grace, Angela, Lily and Jason, and Rotarian Joanna joined “輕馨鬆Zone”, a workshop designed for caregivers. The workshop was co-organized by our Club and Rotary Club of Neoteric Hong Kong. The purpose of the workshop was to encourage caregivers to share their feelings to other caregivers, and to find common strategies for physical and mental relaxation.

Fellowship outing

On September 18, our Club had a fellowship outing at Hong Kong City Hall — not an ordinary outing but a chance to see our Charter President Patrick perform on stage! The occasion was a fundraising concert for Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, where we sponsor a Rotary Community Corps.

District Conference

Over the weekend of May 24-25, members of our Club went to Macau to attend the 65th District Conference. Members who were in attendance included: President David, Past Presidents Grace, Angela, WT, Lily, Mark, and Rotarian Joanna. Members reported having a lot of fun, especially at the Governor Banquet. On May 25, during the Awards lunch ceremony, we witnessed Diana Au Yeung, a long-time service partner of our Club, receiving the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Vocational Service from Governor Nigel, for her work promoting vocational service excellence with our Rotaractors and with the greater community.

Club meeting — Rotaractors from Cambodia

On May 22, we welcomed Rotaractors from Cambodia to share with us their current community service projects. Rotaractors Bopha Touy and Vanna Bay came with Charter President Maria Hicks OAM and Past President Aviv Palti from Rotary Passport Club of Melbourne, Australia. Past President Aviv is a Rotaract Advisor of the Rotaract Club of Siem Reap, Cambodia, to which the Rotaractors belong. Other Visiting Rotarians included Past President Brendan Kierce from Rotary Club of Brighton, Past President Simon Castley from Rotary Club of Kowloon Golden Mile, Past President Betty Ko from Rotary Club of Hong Kong South, and Past President Leo Yu, from Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island East. Past President WT brought a guest, Mr. WT Law, who has extensive experience working in Cambodia.

Club meeting — Wing Chun in Africa

On April 10, our Club met for the 19th time in this Rotary Year. We had a full agenda — lots of reporting from President David on events in the past few weeks. President David also promoted various future events, including District Learning Assembly, District Conference, Anniversary Dinner of Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen etc. Our speaker was President Nominee Donald Mak of Rotary Club of Hong Kong Northwest. He talked about teaching wing chun, a form of southern Chinese martial art popularized in part by Bruce Lee and Donnie Yen, sub-Saharan countries of Mozambique, Eswatini and Lesotho. His mission was to give hope to Africans by enhancing self-defense, physical, mental, and spiritual development. He also aimed to prepare participants for a globalized future with China as their potential pivot point out of poverty.
