From May 7 to 10, members of our Club visited Taiwan to attend the 28th Anniversary Party of Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen. See Part 1 here. Past Presidents Grace, WT, Dora, Ricky, Mark and Jason, together with Past President Jerry of Rotary Club of Tsim Sha Tsui, joined the trip for this special occasion. On May 8, our Club delegation was warmly and graciously welcomed at the airport, setting the tone for a memorable visit. Our sister club then treated members to a delicious lunch, followed by a vocational visit to a cookery factory, offering an interesting glimpse into local industry and craftsmanship. In the evening, our members attended a most splendid anniversary dinner, where our two Clubs renewed our sister club agreement with District Governor Sunny Huang (of District 3481) as witness. The following day, members enjoyed a teppanyaki fellowship lunch, further strengthening bonds through shared experiences. During our visit, Past President Grace and Past President Jerry also had the opportunity to have lunch with Past Rotary International President Gary Huang and Corinna. Past President Jerry was Club President of his Club when Gary was Governor of our District.
On March 1, a large delegation led by President David participated in Rotary Ultramarathon x End Polio Walk, organized by our District. A 50km relay team, managed by Past President Lily, comprised of: Past Presidents Jason, Webster and Mark, as well as two siblings and a cousin of Rotarian Joanna. The team managed to finish the 50km within 5 hours, and placed in the top one-third of all Rotary relay teams. Meanwhile, Rotarian Joanna joined Past Presidents Grace and Lily to cheerlead and participate in the shorter but festive End Polio Walk. Past President Lily was an organizing committee member, while Past President Webster, putting on his hat as Legislative Councillor, was one of the event’s guest of honors. Our Club was a Tier 1 supporter of End Polio Walk and a bronze supporter of the Ultramarathon.
