On January 27, 18 Interactors from the Interact Club of St. Clare’s Girls’ School were given CPR/AED training at St. John’s Ambulance. Rotarian Ka Man was there to support them.
President Eliza, President Danny of the Interact Club of King’s College together with 21 Interactors attended the Adult Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation (CPR/AED) training by St. John at the HK St. John Ambulance Headquarters from 10 am to 5 pm with a test after the training. A very meaningful LEARN TO SAVE LIFE course. A quick recap on CPR: Place heel of hand on the lower half of breastbone in centre of chest with other hand on top of first. Press down 1/3 of depth of chest and give 30compressions. Aim for approximately 100 compressions per minute. Continue CPR (30:2) until ambulance arrives or casualty recovers. For AED:
Rotary CPR/AED Education Project 2022-23 Opening Ceremony was held at St John Tower. Our Club was a Silver Sponsor of this project, which is organized by our good friends from Rotary Club of Hong Kong Northeast. President Eliza and Past President Grace attended the ceremony. Past President Charles shared his life saving experiences using the 50-year-old CPR method but still worked and saved his golfing buddy during alightning strike at a golf course! The latest CPR/AED machine and technique was demonstrated by students from Queen’s College.
On November 28, Past President Lily and Rotarian Jason attended CPR/AED training at St. John’s Ambulance.
On November 13, President Sam attended the opening ceremony of CPR/AED project. Our Club joined the project as Bronze Sponsoring Club. Altogether, twelve Rotary Clubs joined this projected hosted by Rotary Club of Hong Kong Northeast, in partnership with St. John Ambulance. TVB artist 曹永廉 and Miss Hong Kong 2014 邵珮詩 were special guests. Do you know every year around 8,000 cases of cardiac arrest require emergency ambulance service in Hong Kong? That is over 20 cases per day. CPR/AED is critical to survival in the minutes before the ambulance arrives. Past President Webster is working with our Interact Clubs to set up a training day for our Interactors in 2022. Before that, on November 28, there is a training day for District Officers, Rotarians and Rotaractors. Our Past President Lily and Rotarian Jason are registered to attend the certification course.
On November 14, President Mark attended the CPR/AED Project launch ceremony. The project, in its fifth year, aims to promote CPR/AED knowledge in the community. In particular, youth is encouraged to learn CPR and periodically refresh their techniques. This year, the focus is to teach modified CPR techniques that aim to minimize the risk of viral exposure. Our Club is a supporting sponsor of this meaningful project.
On September 28, Past President Grace Yen attended the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Automatic External Defibrillation (AED) Education Project 2019-2020 Launch Ceremony at Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Headquarters. The project, organized by our Area 3 friends from Rotary Club of Hong Kong Northeast, is sponsored by our Club. As part of our sponsorship, 20 of our Interactors and their teachers shall have the opportunity to learn basic CPR/AED skills. Past President Grace collected a certificate of appreciation from our District Governor Wilson Cheng and President Heidi Lee of Rotary Club of Hong Kong Northeast, the organizer of the Project.
