On June 30, the last day of the Rotary Year 2023-2024, members and families trekked all the way to the border to visit Hong Kong Seeing Eye Dog Services. There, we learned about the premier training ground for guide dogs in Hong Kong. We also experienced how to navigate the world without sight, and learned how guide dogs learned to become human’s best companion. Several of us trekked farther north to Shenzhen for an evening of hotpot to close out the Rotary Year.
On June 27, our Club hosted the final Club meeting of the Rotary Year. The speaker, from Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service, talked about using canines as volunteers to support the mental health of humans.
On June 22, President Jason, Past President Sam and Immediate Past President Eliza attended Preserve Planet Earth Award Ceremony and Donation Day. Immediate Past President Eliza was the Chair of the District Committee. Recycling points our Club earned during the year were converted to food supplies, which were donated to Holy Cafe. Mrs. Sung was on hand to receive the donation.
On June 15, Past District Governor Belinda, Past Presidents Eddie, Grace, Angela and Webster attended the 33rd Anniversary Charity Ball of Rotary Club of Tai Po. Everyone dressed up for the occasion.
On June 15, President Jason, Past Presidents Grace, Sam and Lily, and Immediate Past President Eliza attended the regular meeting of Rotary Club of Neoteric Hong Kong, our grandbaby club.
On June 13, Club Assembly was held. Several Club business was discussed. On occasion, we also celebrated the birthdays of several members.
