Club meeting — Club Assembly

On March 9, our Club met for our third Club Assembly of the Rotary Year. The most exciting highlight of our meeting was the attendance of Past President MK and Lina. Past President MK, having escaped death by lightning strike, duly presented his Treasurer report. President Elect Jason, as Chair of the Assembly, gave details of the upcoming Scout Trail Walk and the upcoming 36th Club Anniversary Celebration Party. President Eliza did a recap of Club and District events in the past quarter, and gave updates to our ongoing District and Global Grants. Past Presidents Mark and Dora, and Rotarian Ka Man also stood up to share. Potential member Summly also joined our lunch gathering.

Club meeting — Club Assembly

President Elect Jason hit the bell with the gavel first time on behalf of President Eliza as she was on sick leave. This was also the first Club Assembly hosted by President Elect Jason too. During the meeting, Past President Samuel updated the on-going and planned community service projects. Immediate Past President Sam suggested to form a committee to discuss and handle the Club Constitution and By-laws. He also invited members who liked to join by registering with him. Past President Kay kindly volunteered to join the committee too. Past President Mark, as Preserve Planet Earth Chair, promoted the Rotary Carbon Reduction and Ecology Summit and the Rotary Carbon Reduction and Ecological Conservation Video Competition. He also encouraged members to suggest whatever initiatives our club could consider adopting for our on-going club operation. The Club Jacket proposal brought up by some board members was discussed with members showing diverse opinions from club images, sense of belongings, environmental consideration, and abundance of similar clothing. President Elect Jason was tasked to conduct a simple survey on this matter with all members. On the 2023-24 board composition, President Elect Jason would be happy to receive nomination (and self- nominations) for any board position.…

Club meeting — Club Assembly

On June 23, our Club met for dinner at Regal Hongkong Hotel. A number of spouses were in attendance at this final regular meeting of the Rotary Year x 4th Club Assembly. There were no birthdays or anniversaries announced at this meeting. Past President Dora, as Sergeant-at-Arms, reported the final figure of the Red Box which far exceeded the annual target. She thanked all members for the strong support. With the help of President Elect Eliza, President Sam reported on District Blind Bowling Tournament and District Preserve Planet Earth Tree Planting Day which were held on June 12 and June 18, respectively.Club Installation is to be held on July 14 (Thursday, 12:30pm) and members were reminded to wear the new theme ties/scarves and pins. At the club installation, a recognition ceremony will take place to recognize the Paul Harris Fellows, Paul Harris Society, Benefactors and Major Donors of the club. After the reports were settled, President Sam invited President Elect Eliza to preside over the 4th Club Assembly. Club meeting — Assembly x AGM x Christmas party

On December 23, our Club held its Club Assembly x Annual General Meeting. During Club Assembly, various members brought up current issues for discussion, including our Endowment Fund as well as our 35th Anniversary Party. At AGM, other than the usual round of business, our Club elected a President for RY2023-2024 — Rotarian Jason, and other Board members for RY2022-2023. Thereafter, Club members and family members enjoyed an evening of fun and good food. We also played our usual rounds of lucky draw and Bingo, with the sound of joy reverberating throughout the evening.

Club meeting — Club Assembly

On September 23, our Club inducted Dr. David Lee as our newest member. Proposed by Past President Grace, David’s classification is “Medical – Western and Chinese Medicine.” Rotarian David comes to us with quite a bit of Rotary experience, having been an Interactor, Rotaractor and RYLA 2006 participant. President Elect Eliza hosted our first Club Assembly of the year. On the agenda was membership, Rotary Club of Hong Kong Harbour 35th Anniversary Endowment Fund and our Club’s 35th Anniversary Dinner. President Sam reported that the Endowment Fund will commence fundraising shortly in November with an eye on the InterCity Meeting on December 7. Planned completion of the fundraising is March of 2022 (total to be raised: USD 250,000). President Sam at the Club Assembly pledged to donate the first USD 25,000 to establish the Endowment Fund. President Sam will send details of the fundraising to all members once ready. President Elect Eliza reported on the 35th Anniversary Dinner. An Organizing Committee has been formed. Several venues and dates were proposed. Themes were discussed. The meeting concluded that Regal (Hong Kong, Kowloon, Airport) should be under final consideration, considering that social distancing regulations may be fluid and Regal offers the best…

Club meeting — Club Assembly

On June 24, our Club met at Regal Hong Kong Hotel. To ensure proper social distancing, Regal has given us a large room, with 4-person tables separated by ample spaces. President Mark began by inviting President Elect Sam to summarize arrangements for Club Installation and District Installation. Club Installation shall include a Paul Harris Fellows (PHF) recognition session in which 14 members shall be recognized for achieving new PHFs or new PHF tiers. President Elect Sam also briefly talked about ”The Familiar Strangers” charity concert on August 3. The concert, organized by Suicide Prevention Services, shall be one of incoming President’s first fellowship events. President Elect Sam says that a Whatsapp signup sheet shall be circulated in due course, and urges members to sign up themselves as well as their families and friends. President Mark reported that our sister Club, Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen, has done a great job donating health supplies to local hospitals to combat a surging Covid-19 pandemic in Taiwan. Heeding their call for help on social media, our Board has approved a special donation to their Club to join their humanitarian effort. Club meeting — The Rotary Foundation

On May 27, our Club met at Regal Hong Kong Hotel. To ensure proper social distancing, Regal has given us a large room, with 4-person tables separated by ample spaces. Several announcements were made before the speaker program. President Mark urged members to support Interota 2020 Hong Kong by signing up and joining the event virtually. President Mark and President Elect Sam gave more details about an upcoming joint Board meeting, to be held on June 21. President Elect Sam also announced several important dates for our Club and District: June 24 (Club Assembly and last Club meeting of RY2020-2021), July 8 (Club Installation), and July 10 (District Installation). Club Installation would be a regular lunch meeting, at Regal HK Hotel. Final arrangements are still to be hashed out, dependent upon social distancing rules of the day and the number of members and spouses wishing to attend. At the moment, both outgoing and incoming District Governors, both outgoing and incoming Assistant Governors will attend. Finally, according to President Elect Sam, District Installation would be held in the afternoon, at HKCEC, with no meals.
