Our District hosted a physical Grant Management Seminar at Regal Kowloon Hotel. President Elect Jason attended on behalf of our Club, while Past District Governor Belinda, as District Rotary Foundation Chair, and Past President Eddie Leung, as District Rotary Foundation Committee Vice Chair – Finance, presented respective importanttopics to the over 100 Rotarians in the audience.

Global Grant Ceremony in Taiwan

President Eliza went to the Global Grant inaugural ceremony which our Club supported as an international sponsor for USD1,000.00. The host of the project was Rotary Club of Taipei-Fu-Jung and International Partner was Rotary Club of Queensway. Rotary Club of Wanchai was also one of the international sponsors too. The title of the Global Grant was “Empower Women to Unlock Community Strength by training licensed long-term women caregivers in Pingtung”, in the southern part of Taiwan. The global grant project supported eight aboriginal townships women with a total of 50 and 10 for advance training whom could open their own caregiver centers in Pingtung. As each township is far from the others, the group went to two nearby township separately to understand more about the day care work by the women after the inaugural ceremony. Club meeting — Yuk Chi Resource Centre

We had a very joyful Christmas Lunch Party with lucky draw! Charter President Patrick donated cash prizes on the spot so that all 21 attendees got a Christmas present to bring home! Before the lucky draw, we welcomed two service partners from Yuk Chi ResourceCentre. They were Agency Head Miss Helen Leung and Social Worker Ms Jacqueline Lai. While our club has been partnered with Yuk Chi for three decades, for benefit of new Clubmembers, we invited Helen to give an introduction of Yuk Chi. Yuk Chi has been established since 1991. At the beginning, it was to provide educational seminars andgroups to parents and caregivers of disabled children, including children with autism, physically handicapped, and those with special educational needs (SEN). The Centre serves families with disabled children in the New Territories and after 30 years, the number of members has increased to over 8,500, with 2,100 SEN children. Jacqueline informed the club members that besides the routine training for parents /caregivers and educational training for the children, the Centre would mount special projects from time to time. Virtual Sister Club Visit

We visited our Sister Club, Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen during their regular lunch meeting via Zoom. We had President Eliza, President Elect Jason, Past President Eddie, Past President Samuel, Past President Grace, Past President Dora and Past President Lily attended the meeting. During the meeting, Past President Samuel helped to promote the Yuk Chi Global Grant and received positive feedback. A follow-up Zoom meeting with Past Presidents Kevin and Ronald of Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen was also held on December 14.

Visiting Rotarian from Brazil

On November 24, Past President Francisco Mo, Rotary Club de Sao Paolo Aeroporto visited our Club from Brazil. He brought with us the photos of the global grant project sponsored by our club during Past President Mark’s 2020-21 year. The project aims to improve the care provided to patients with brain and tutors through the use of ultrasonic aspirator, as well as train doctors in this surgical technique. More Past President Francisco also carried two bags of coffee, one to Past President Mark and one to President Eliza along with the club flag exchange.

Club meeting — Club Assembly

President Elect Jason hit the bell with the gavel first time on behalf of President Eliza as she was on sick leave. This was also the first Club Assembly hosted by President Elect Jason too. During the meeting, Past President Samuel updated the on-going and planned community service projects. Immediate Past President Sam suggested to form a committee to discuss and handle the Club Constitution and By-laws. He also invited members who liked to join by registering with him. Past President Kay kindly volunteered to join the committee too. Past President Mark, as Preserve Planet Earth Chair, promoted the Rotary Carbon Reduction and Ecology Summit and the Rotary Carbon Reduction and Ecological Conservation Video Competition. He also encouraged members to suggest whatever initiatives our club could consider adopting for our on-going club operation. The Club Jacket proposal brought up by some board members was discussed with members showing diverse opinions from club images, sense of belongings, environmental consideration, and abundance of similar clothing. President Elect Jason was tasked to conduct a simple survey on this matter with all members. On the 2023-24 board composition, President Elect Jason would be happy to receive nomination (and self- nominations) for any board position.…

Visit to Rotary Club of Pudu

President Mark Tong, together with Past Presidents Dora Liu, Webster Ng and Patric Lee of Rotary E Club of Lantau, and Joey, visited our Sister Club in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend of July 12-14. President Mark could not stay for one more than one night as he had to return to Hong Kong on July 13 to attend District Installation, but the rest stayed behind to attend our Sister Club’s 53rd Installation. Naturally, they were feasted with fabulous food and warm hospitality from our dearest Rotarians from Pudu. President Mark did manage to join Pudu’s fellowship evening, during which the Sister Club Agreement between the two Clubs was renewed. Harbour Rotarians also managed to watch a presentation by Past District Governor Paul Lee, who is readying a Global Grant application to build water access for indigenous people in the rural forests of Malaysia.
