March 21-23 marked one of the busiest time of the year for our Club. We hosted our 38th Anniversary Dinner on March 22, and received dozens of sister club visitors from Malaysia and Taiwan. On March 21, after picking up our guests from the airport, we had a sumptuous lunch at The Fullerton Hotel. In the evening, we went on a joyous tram ride followed by a fantastic Cantonese dinner. On March 22, some of us went on a boat ride and seafood lunch, while others stayed put and got busy shopping. In the evening, we hosted our Club’s 38th Anniversary Dinner, featuring Past President Ricky and Rotarian Ka Man as MC. We also had the privilege of inducting our newest member, Joanna Lai, with Governor Nigel Lo, Past District Governor Eric Chak (District Membership Committee Chair) and Charter President Patrick in attendance. On February 23, our Club celebrated Rotary’s birthday by participating in District Bowling Tournament x Blind Bowling. Honorary Member Vivien was the event’s Guest of Honor, while our Club sent the largest contingent of Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors, with 5 bowling lanes total.
On January 23, President David together with several members visited Caritas’ Community Living Room in Kwun Tong. We also managed to serve to grassroots laborers soups that were sponsored by our Club, and made by laborers who learned how to make the soup via our Club’s sponsored talk on healthy eating.
On December 19, as part of our District Grant project, President David was in the community talking about pain management and occupational therapy.
On December 14, several members joined End Polio Walk 2024 at The Peak. President David led a delegation including Past President Grace, Past President Mark, Immediate Past President Jason together with Sara and Mango and participated in a day of sunshine, and exercise. Our Club was a Tier 1 donor to PolioPlus Fund.
On December 1, President David kicked off our District Grant project to alleviate the physical and mental stress experienced by street cleaners. The project initiates a series of events and informal talks surrounding physical and mental health, and concludes by providing physical and mental stress relief by way of free remedial sessions to eligible street cleaners in the Tsuen Wan and Kwun Tong districts. On occasion, President David offered Chinese medical help to several in need.
On November 29, President David, Charter President Patrick and Past President Kay attended the Club Installation of Interact Club of King’s College, where Interactors reported past activities and plans for future ones.
On November 27, President David and Past President Webster attended the grand opening of Mrs. Sung’s newest project, a dim sum restaurant that is an offshoot of Holy Cafe. Mrs. Sung and Holy Cafe are our long-time service partner, and we are most glad to witness them grow.
On November 23, President David and other members witnessed the installation of the new Board of Directors of our Rotaract Club of HKU Lap Chee College International. President David and Charter President Patrick gave speeches to congratulate the new Rotaract President Irina Duan, the new Rotaract board and encourage them to serve above self. We were most pleasantly surprised to see that Sally Oh, previously our Rotaract Club’s president, is now a senior resident tutor of the College and a Rotaract Advisor. Congratulations to President Irina, Sally, and the new Rotaract Board!
On November 23, President David, Past Presidents Eddie, Grace, Samuel, Lily and Mark attended Yuk Chi Resource Centre’s 30th Anniversary Celebrations. We met Past District Governor John Wan, a long-time supporter of Yuk Chi.
