On October 12, 7 Clubs of Area 3 — Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island East, Rotary Club of Hong Kong South, Rotary Club of Hong Kong Northeast, our Club, Rotary Club of Happy Valley, Rotary Club of The HUB Hong Kong and Rotary Club of Uplift Actions Hong Kong co-organized Mental Health Awareness Day, an all-day event aiming to increase mental health awareness in the community. The day was filled with sharing sessions and workshops. Deep appreciation goes to President Josephine Mak and Rotary Club of Uplift Actions Hong Kong for taking a lead in making this event a great success.
On October 10, Mr. Gary So visited our Club to talk about NGO Medicare. Past District Governor HW, Chair of The ONE Hong Kong Humanitarian Award, visited to pass a nomination reward to our Club for successfully nominating Mrs. Amy Chan, who was runner-up in 2023 The ONE Hong Kong Humanitarian Award.
On September 26, our Club, together with other Area 3 Clubs, hosted Dr. C.C. Luk, who talked about studying medicine in Hong Kong. Nearly 100 participants attended this joint dinner meeting.
On September 7, members visited Yuk Chi Resource Centre, our long-term service partner. Members managed to take a glimpse of the renovation of the multi-sensory room, which received significant funding from a Global Grant.
On September 4, our Club together with our mother Club, Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island East, hosted Governor Nigel. Governor Nigel also met with our Club’s Board of Directors prior to the joint meeting.
On September 1, members visited Home Care for Girls, our long-term service partner. In attendance included President David, Past Presidents Grace, Angela, Ricky and Sam, and Immediate Past President Jason. Several friends also attended.
On August 22, Assistant Governor visited our Club. As such, Past President Mark, as Assistant Governor, conveniently switched his usual Club Secretary seat on the left of President David to one on President David’s right — the speaker seat. Past President Mark shared with the Club Rotary International President Stephanie Urchick’s priorities for this Rotary Year, Governor Nigel’s priorities for this Rotary Year, the meaning of Rotary International’s theme – “Magic of Rotary”, and things to prepare prior to Governor’s visit, in September.
On August 20, our Club hosted a fellowship dinner filled with laughter. We also celebrated Past District Governor Belinda’s retirement, birthdays of August birthday boys and girls, and Boris’ matriculation in the HKU MBBS program.
On August 10, Past President Lily and Past President Samuel attended District Community Service Seminar. Past President Lily is an Organizing Committee member and a presenter during one of the sessions.
On August 8, Dr. Norman Chan, an endocrinologist, visited our Club to update us with the latest scientific research on the subjects of thyroid, diabetes and metabolism. We also took the opportunity to celebrate August birthday boys and girls.
