Charter President Patrick, Immediate Past President Sam and Past President Grace attended the Lap Chee College International ‘s *Stay Connected – Yum Cha with Elders * at the College Hall, Jockey Club Student Village III. A group of 80 elders from Aberdeen was invited to the college for Dim Sum lunch and interesting student performances. LCCI Rotaractors would like to build the interaction with the elders and help forge a caring community and raise the awareness on their daily struggles. During the lunch, CP Patrick was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation for his extraordinary dedication by participating in the charity event.

Anniversary Dinner

A relaxing and fun-filled 36th Club Anniversary party was successfully held at Regala Skycity Hotel on March 25, 2023. The party was attended by over 65 Club membersand guests. District Governor Norman Lee, District Governor Elect Andy Li, District Governor Nominee Nigel Lo, District Officers, and 20 members from our three sister clubs — Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen, Rotary Club of Taoyuan Southeast and Rotary Club of Pudu. The highlights of event were the sister-club signing ceremony with all three sister clubs to continue our partnership to do GOOD for the community; new memberinduction for Rotarian Ka Man Wong; the pinning of new Paul Harris Fellows and multi-Paul Harris Fellows for President Eliza Ning, Past President Grace Yen, Past President Eddie Leung, Past President Webster Ng and Rotary Ann Coco. What’s more? A party of 35 Rotarians and family members joined the Lantau tour on nextday which further fostered bonding among all. Last but not least, we thank our President Elect Jason Ling for his great leadership of the dinner, and we are looking forward to our next anniversary celebration with many more Club members and friends!!

Scouts Walkathon

President Eliza and President Elect Jason went to the Presidents-Elect Training Seminar (PETS) II in the morning session in Alexandra Hotel before getting on a taxi to Chi Fu, Pokfulam for the Opening Ceremony of the Scout Trail Walk where Past Presidents Grace, Dora, Eddie and ex-member Past Presidents Theresa and Kennedy were there together with Yuk Chi Resources Centre’s team. Then President Elect Jason rushed back to attend the afternoon session of the PETS II. After the opening ceremony, Yuk Chi’s team together with children and parents hopped on a coach to go to the Peak. Meanwhile, President Eliza walked the steep route from Pokfulam to the Peak together with her brother and Ms. Laura Lo, one of this year’s speakers during our regular meetings and a senior scout leader. Past President Mark joined in right before the Peak walk together with President Eliza and team. District Governor Norman and his wife Isa joined the award ceremony at 4:30pm and presented Rotary Club of Hong Kong Harbour Award to the 50km walk winners. Blind Bowling 2023

A total of 6 Interactors from King’s College under the leadership of President Danny joined the Rotary 13th HK Bowling Tournament for all x 12th HK Blind Bowling Tournament at South China Athletic Association Bowling Centre in Causeway Bay. President Eliza and President Elect Nominee David had a few swings as well but didn’t manage any strike. Past President Grace came to show support. Our Interactors carefully helped our blind teammate to position well for the swing. Our Honorary Member Vivien was Guest of Honor at the event. Great team work by all!

Club meeting — Society for Community Organization

A total of 11 Club members attended the first regular lunch meeting in 2023. Thanks to ex-Rotarian Ann Coco, a new potential member Summly Lee was introduced to our Club. Summly is a Barrister-at-Law by profession. We also have Miss Wong Ka Man (guest of Charter President Patrick) joining us for the second time. Guest Speaker was Miss Si from Society for Community Organization (“SoCo”), who shared with us the topic of poverty and housing inequality in Hong Kong. Miss Si of Society for Community Organization (SoCo) gave us a brief introductionof SoCo. Founded in 1971, SoCo serves the underprivileged. SoCo also undertakes original social policy research, lobbies Hong Kong decision making bodies and organizes direct action events. According to their research, as of 2020 Hong Kong has a very high poverty rate especially amongst children (27%) and elderly in poverty (45%) before policy intervention. Area 3 has been working closely with SoCo on a regular basis, visiting cage homes and sub-divided flats and delivering protection gears/food/food voucher to the needy since this past Rotary Year. Virtual Sister Club Visit

We visited our Sister Club, Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen during their regular lunch meeting via Zoom. We had President Eliza, President Elect Jason, Past President Eddie, Past President Samuel, Past President Grace, Past President Dora and Past President Lily attended the meeting. During the meeting, Past President Samuel helped to promote the Yuk Chi Global Grant and received positive feedback. A follow-up Zoom meeting with Past Presidents Kevin and Ronald of Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen was also held on December 14.

CPR/AED Education Project 2022-23 Opening Ceremony

Rotary CPR/AED Education Project 2022-23 Opening Ceremony was held at St John Tower. Our Club was a Silver Sponsor of this project, which is organized by our good friends from Rotary Club of Hong Kong Northeast. President Eliza and Past President Grace attended the ceremony. Past President Charles shared his life saving experiences using the 50-year-old CPR method but still worked and saved his golfing buddy during alightning strike at a golf course! The latest CPR/AED machine and technique was demonstrated by students from Queen’s College.

Hot meal distribution at Holy Cafe

It was a busy afternoon with 12 Rotarians and family members helping out, including: President Eliza, Past President Samuel and Amy, Past President Grace, Past President Lily and sister Alice, Past President Ricky with Grace and Boris, Coco, Rotarian Tony anddaughter. We helped to register 350 elderlies, including 65 new beneficiaries.

End Polio Walk 2022

Past Presidents Eddie, Grace, Samuel, WT, Lily and Mark, together with President Elect Jason and Sara and Mango started off with a brunch fellowship at NO BOUNDARY in Kennedy Town. Afterwards, they began an easy walk from Kennedy Town to Cyber Port (3.5 km), arriving at Cyber Port just in town for the End Polio festivities. Past District Governor Belinda received a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of our Club for our Donation to The Rotary Foundation’s End Polio Fund.
