It was a busy afternoon with 12 Rotarians and family members helping out, including: President Eliza, Past President Samuel and Amy, Past President Grace, Past President Lily and sister Alice, Past President Ricky with Grace and Boris, Coco, Rotarian Tony anddaughter. We helped to register 350 elderlies, including 65 new beneficiaries.
On September 1, Past President Grace and Rotaryann Coco helped to give out “Goodies Bags” and hot meals to more than 250 elderlies.
For the second time this Rotary Year, we helped out at Holy Cafe, packing and delivering hot meals to the elderly on a hot summer day! Club members Past President Samuel & Amy, Past President WT & Kelly, Past President Grace, Past President Angela, Past President Dora, Past President Mark, and Coco participated this meaningful event.
On October 23, President Sam, Past President Grace, Immediate Past President Mark, Rotarian Jason and friends of Rotary volunteered at Holy Cafe, handing out hot meals and face masks to the elderly.
On August 21, President Sam, Past President Grace and friend, Past President Lily (and her two nephews), Past President Angela and Maurice, Immediate Past President Mark, President Elect Eliza, Sandy and Trevor (Past President Ka Hing’s friends), and Tony (prospective member) went to Holy Cafe to pack hot meals for the elderly. With several youngsters helping out, the elderly beneficiaries also felt more lively.
On June 10, our Club met at Regal Hong Kong Hotel. To ensure proper social distancing, Regal has given us a large room, with 4-person tables separated by ample spaces. Mr. Kenneth She joined as a guest of Past President WT. President Mark began by recounting memorable episodes from Interota 2020, which closed the day before. President Mark also asked those members who have signed up for Rotary Virtual Convention to check their emails to gain access links. President Elect Sam gave more details about Club Assembly, Club Installation and District Installation. Charter President Patrick reported that he attended Rotary Club of Pudu’s Interact Leadership Training Seminar, held via Zoom. He had fond memories of his appointment as Youth Service Director of Rotary Club of Pudu, in the late 70s. He also reminded us that fellowship and international understanding are two important pillars of the Interact experience, and that our Club should open more opportunities for our youth to experience both. On June 5, President Mark led a team consisting of Past President Grace, Past President Samuel and Amy, and President Elect Sam to deliver hot meals to 200+ elderly living in Cheung Sha Wan and Lai Chi Kok areas. Amy, first to arrive, was the star of the day. She singlehandedly handled 100+ meal boxes. Past President Grace managed the front line, while Past President Samuel and President Mark managed the day’s traffic, which was mostly orderly.
On May 22, President Mark led a team consisting of Past Presidents Grace and Samuel, Rotarian Eliza, and Coco to deliver hot meals to 200+ elderly living in Cheung Sha Wan and Lai Chi Kok areas. Everyone lost weight while standing under the 36-degree afternoon sun to hand hot meals and other goodies to the elderly. The next outing, likely our final one this Rotary Year, is scheduled on June 5.
On April 24, President Mark led a team consisting of Past President Grace and Rotarian Eliza to deliver hot meals to 200+ elderly living in Cheung Sha Wan and Lai Chi Kok areas. The next outing is scheduled on May 22. Extra helpers are needed as it would be the date for elderly to register for the first time, or renew, their eligibility cards.
On March 27, President Mark led a group consisting of Past Presidents Grace and Dora, and Rotarians Kelvin and Eliza to distribute hot meals to the elderly in the Cheung Sha Wan/Lai Chi Kok area. Our next outing is tentatively scheduled on April 17.
