On January 9, our Club invited film director Ho Cheuk-Tin to share with us his recent experience making films in Hong Kong about Hong Kong. Several visiting Rotarians were in attendance, including: Past District Governor Eric Chak of Rotary Club of Peninsula, Past President Douglas Hsia of Rotary Club of Walnut Grove, Past President Elizabete Fong of Rotary Club of Macau, Past President Donald Chan of Rotary Club of Golden Bauhinia Hong Kong, and Immediate Past President Tony Leung of Rotary Club of The HUB Hong Kong.
On December 20, our Club organized a Christmas Party at The Fullerton Hotel, our first event at the hotel.
On December 19, as part of our District Grant project, President David was in the community talking about pain management and occupational therapy.
On December 14, several members joined End Polio Walk 2024 at The Peak. President David led a delegation including Past President Grace, Past President Mark, Immediate Past President Jason together with Sara and Mango and participated in a day of sunshine, and exercise. Our Club was a Tier 1 donor to PolioPlus Fund.
On December 12, our Club conducted our Annual General Meeting. After business was conducted, our members enjoyed a joyous and relaxing lunch with free-flow conversations. Past President Mark also brought back “inni”, the mascot of Everyone is Beautiful.
On December 1, President David kicked off our District Grant project to alleviate the physical and mental stress experienced by street cleaners. The project initiates a series of events and informal talks surrounding physical and mental health, and concludes by providing physical and mental stress relief by way of free remedial sessions to eligible street cleaners in the Tsuen Wan and Kwun Tong districts. On occasion, President David offered Chinese medical help to several in need.
On November 30, Past President Mark attended the CPR/AED Project Opening Ceremony on behalf of both Governor Nigel, who was out of town at Rotary Institute, and President David. Our Club is a sponsor of the project, which aims to increase awareness of the importance of CPR/AED knowledge in the community and to encourage members of the community to learn how to practice CPR and use an AED machine. The project was conceived and organized by Rotary Club of Hong Kong Northeast.
On November 29, President David, Charter President Patrick and Past President Kay attended the Club Installation of Interact Club of King’s College, where Interactors reported past activities and plans for future ones.
On November 29, Past President Grace and Rotarian Ka Man attended the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of Ho Fung College, which is home to our Club’s first Interact Club. There, they met two Rotarians: Immediate Past President Tony Leung of Rotary Club of The HUB Hong Kong, a alumnus of Ho Fung, and Past President Alex Lau of Rotary Club of Central, a Board member of Ho Fung College.
On November 27, President David and Past President Webster attended the grand opening of Mrs. Sung’s newest project, a dim sum restaurant that is an offshoot of Holy Cafe. Mrs. Sung and Holy Cafe are our long-time service partner, and we are most glad to witness them grow.
