On July 25, two representatives from Caritas HK visited our Club meeting to summarize the project that our Club partnered with them in the previous Rotary Year. Representatives from Rotary Club of The HUB Hong Kong were also in attendance as they were a joint organizer of the project that provides free eye-sight checkup services for children of grassroots families.
On July 11, our Club hosted the first regular Club meeting of the new Rotary Year. Our Club also ceremoniously installed President David, witnessed by members, spouses and friends. Congratulations again to President David! We also celebrated the amazing work done by Immediate Past President Jason.
On July 6, many members attended District Installation to celebrate the Installation of our Governor, his team and his Presidents. Immediate Past President Jason and President David were there to ceremoniously pass along the Presidential sash. Several members took up District-level positions this year: Past President Mark (Assistant Governor), Past President Webster (District Treasurer), Past President Grace (District Secretary), and Past President Angela (District Secretary).
On July 5, President David, Past Presidents Grace, Angela and Mark, and Immediate Past President Jason visited our Interact Club of St. Clare’s Girls’ School, which hosted a joint-school high tea. The theme of the gathering was Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Past President Angela, a member of the District Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, was invited to give a speech on the topic.
On July 1, David Lee officially became President of our Club, while Jason Ling became Immediate Past President. Many thanks to Immediate Past President Jason for a wonderful year of outstanding leadership, and all the best to President David! Here’s a link to President David’s Board of Directors.
On June 22, President Jason, Past President Sam and Immediate Past President Eliza attended Preserve Planet Earth Award Ceremony and Donation Day. Immediate Past President Eliza was the Chair of the District Committee. Recycling points our Club earned during the year were converted to food supplies, which were donated to Holy Cafe. Mrs. Sung was on hand to receive the donation.
On June 15, President Jason, Past Presidents Grace, Sam and Lily, and Immediate Past President Eliza attended the regular meeting of Rotary Club of Neoteric Hong Kong, our grandbaby club.
On May 18, District Conference was held at Regala Skycity Hotel. Many of our members attended District’s most important event of the year: President Jason, Past District Governor Belinda, Past Presidents WT, Grace, Dora, Ricky, and Mark, and Immediate Past President Eliza. One of the plenary keynote speakers, Mr Michael Wong Wai-lun, GBS, JP, Deputy Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government, was a past member of our Club. Many members were involved in various aspects of the Conference, including Past President Dora, who was a floor manager, and Past President Grace, who was an MC during Foundation Lunch.
On May 12, District Health Committee hosted Mental Health Services Closing Ceremony cum Giant Zentangle Experience. The event was organized by Past President Lily, who is a member of District Health Committee. President Jason and Past President Webster also attended.
As a tradition, our Sister Club Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen held their 26th Anniversary Celebration on May 2, 2024 at Taipei Garden Hotel (台北花園大酒店). We have five representatives attending including President Jason and Sara, and Past Presidents Dora, Webster and Mark. In the afternoon, our Sister Club treated us to a lunch of authentic Taiwan-cuisine at 山海樓, and after their Anniversary Celebration, we all went to karaoke for extra fun!
