On September 28, our Assistant Governor Leo Yu visited our Club to share RI President and District Governor’s vision for the year, as well as the latest updates of the District. Two former members, Past President Theresa and ex-member Ada Leung also joined. A visiting Rotarian, Suzanne Cook, of Rotary Club of Brampton, Canada, also joined us. Rotarian Suzanne shared a bit of her background, her Rotary Club’s projects as well as her plans for the upcoming two weeks in Hong Kong. We wish her a great rest of the trip. On occasion, President Jason also exchanged club flags with Rotarian Suzanne, thus adding to our prized collection of club flags from around the world! Heeding Honorary Member Vivien’s call, members donated shoes, clothing and stationery to Good Fortune and Wisdom International Charity Fund, who will send all those items to Kenya. The campaign will last for another month; please contact Past President Dora for details and ways to help.
On September 24, President Jason, Past President Lily, President Elect David, Rotarian Ka Man, Rotary-Anns Coco and Sara, together with RCC HSU Patrick SC Poon Amity College and Master Dr Thomas Man, and friends, have joined hands to visit elderly in public housing in Kwun Tong and Kwai Tsing Districts.
On August 21, our Club gathered together at New Life, a social enterprise restaurant in Wanchai for an evening of good food, great conversation, and lots of singing! Thanks to Past President Ricky, everyone got to hold a microphone and show off their vocal skills. We also welcomed Ariel Chu, a visitor originally from Taiwan who is now working in Hong Kong.
On August 18, President Jason and Past Presidents Grace and Samuel visited Yuk Chi Resource Centre to discuss our strategy for our upcoming collaboration.
On August 20, our Club and members supported the kickoff ceremony for District’s Mental Health Project. In attendance included Past President Lily, who is the Project’s chair this year, Past President Mark (Project Committee member), and President Jason.
District Installation was held on July 8, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Presidential Collar was ceremoniously passed on by Immediate Past President Eliza to President Jason.
On July 4, President Jason, Past President Grace and President Elect David attended the Joint-School Interact Club Afternoon Tea 2023, held at St. Clare’s Girls’ School. The event was co-organized by our Interact Club of St. Clare’s Girls’ School and a few other Interact Clubs in Hong Kong, including our Interact Club of King’s College.
Various members, including Past Presidents Grace, Ricky and Mark, Immediate Past President Sam, President Elect Jason and Sara attended our sister Club Rotary Club of Pudu’s 57th Club Installation in Kuala Lumpur. President Elect Jason represented President Eliza as head of our visiting delegation. Past President Ricky also had the privilege of having the entire venue of 100 tables singing happy birthday to him.
Our Club installation was successfully held on the evening of June 7; it was also the first Club Installation of our District. It was great to see many members: long time members and new faces. We congratulate President Jason Ling and his new Board of Directors for taking up the challenge of steering our Club to greater heights in the coming Rotary Year. We also thank Outgoing President Eliza for her leadership in Rotary Year 2022-23 and for taking our Preserve Planet Earth and Peace efforts to new heights!
While President Eliza and others were in Taipei attending Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen’s 25th Anniversary Party in Taipei, Past District Governor Belinda, Past President Grace, Past President Eddie, Past President Lily, Past President Mark, President Nominee David and Rotarian Ka Man in Hong Kong attended District Training Assembly. Some ofthem were representing their respective District Committees on stage as speakersas well. Also, President Nominee David, on behalf of President Elect Jason voted for the District 3450 budget 2023/24.
