As a tradition, our Sister Club Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen held their 26th Anniversary Celebration on May 2, 2024 at Taipei Garden Hotel (台北花園大酒店). We have five representatives attending including President Jason and Sara, and Past Presidents Dora, Webster and Mark. In the afternoon, our Sister Club treated us to a lunch of authentic Taiwan-cuisine at 山海樓, and after their Anniversary Celebration, we all went to karaoke for extra fun!
On April 30, President Jason, Past President Grace and President Elect David accompanied three guests to attend New Member Orientation, hosted by District Membership Committee.
On April 28, President Jason represented our Club to attend the Prize Presentation Ceremony for Virtual Walk, organized by Scout Hong Kong Island Region.
On April 27, various members attended District Training Assembly. Our Club had a large delegation of attendees and incoming officials, including incoming District Secretaries Past Presidents Grace and Angela, and incoming District Treasurer Past President Webster. Of course the leader of our delegation was President Elect David, who also was present to vote on the District Budget for Rotary Year 2024-2025.
On April 25, various Club members attended the Handover Ceremony of RCC HSU Patrick SC Poon Amity College.
On April 25, Dr. Hui Ching gave an inspiring talk on the hottest topic today: US-China relations.
On April 11, our Club hosted Elf Wong of Chinese Evangelical Zion Church Social Service Division. Elf talked about how her organization enlisted canines as service partners.
On April 6, our Club visited Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island East, our mother club, to attend their 70th Anniversary Celebration Dinner at Ocean Park Marriott. Our Club obtained an entire table to show our support. It was a gorgeous night with many outstanding performances and sharing.
As a tradition, our Sister Club Rotary Club of Taoyuan Southeast held their 28th Anniversary Celebration on April 1. Eight representatives from our Club attended, including members, spouses and family members. On the second day, we joined a day tour to Yilan (宜蘭), where we enjoyed local food, fruit picking, boat ride and local food again. Just like past years we were flooded with the hospitality, passion and souvenirs from our beloved Sisters!
This year we have injected a bit more new ideas to our celebration week, by taking all our members and sister clubs to Macau for a weekend retreat, authentic Portuguese cuisine, and a tour around Macau city. District Governor Andy and Jane, District Governor Elect Nigel and Flora and little Raphael, and some Rotarians from Macau have joined our banquet on March 23 too. We wish to thank our incredible Organizing Committee,including President Elect David, Past President Eddie, Past President Grace, Past President Dora, Past President Ricky, Past President Lily, Past President Mark, Past President Sam P, and Rotarian Ka Man, and our good friend Past President Elizabete Fong of Rotary Club of Macau for making it such an enjoyable get-together.
