On September 16, Past President Lily attended Mental Health First-Aid Course on behalf of our Club.
President Elect David has conducted a successful Club Assembly on September 14. During Club Assembly, he shared his vision for major upcoming events, including year-end party and 37th Anniversary Party weekend, which is tentatively scheduled for March 9-10, 2024.
On August 24, our Club met for the fourth time in this Rotary Year. Our speaker talked about U.S. China relations and what the future holds. Meanwhile, we had quite a number of visitors: we welcomed back Past District Governor YC Ho who yearned to join our meeting after years of absence due to Covid-19; Immediate Past District Governor Norman Lee, who came specifically to thank Past President Antonio and Pat for making a significant donation to The Rotary Foundation at the tail end of this past Rotary Year; Helen and Natalie from our service partner Yuk Chi Resource Centre; and Crystal Lee, former tutor and Rotaract Advisor of our Rotaract Club of HKU Lap Chee College International.
On August 21, our Club gathered together at New Life, a social enterprise restaurant in Wanchai for an evening of good food, great conversation, and lots of singing! Thanks to Past President Ricky, everyone got to hold a microphone and show off their vocal skills. We also welcomed Ariel Chu, a visitor originally from Taiwan who is now working in Hong Kong.
On August 18, President Jason and Past Presidents Grace and Samuel visited Yuk Chi Resource Centre to discuss our strategy for our upcoming collaboration.
On August 20, our Club and members supported the kickoff ceremony for District’s Mental Health Project. In attendance included Past President Lily, who is the Project’s chair this year, Past President Mark (Project Committee member), and President Jason.
On August 10, our Club met for the third time in this Rotary Year. It was great to see many members: new, old and ex-members! We were especially glad to see ex-members Past Presidents Peter Ngai, Kennedy Tang and Theresa Chan, and our lovely Rotary spouse Coco!
On July 27, our Club met for lunch at Regal Hongkong Hotel. Our newest member Rotarian Wong Ka Man gave us a very informative vocational talk on insurance and actuarial science. Charter President Patrick also revealed a number of high-level insurance industry strategies. We would love to have Charter President Patrick to give us a separate talk on this!
The first regular Club meeting of the new Rotary Year was held on July 13, at Regal Hongkong Hotel. Our speaker, Amy Chan, founder of Child Development Matching Fund and Child Development Initiative Alliance, was no stranger to many of our members. She is also our Club’s nominee for THE ONE Hong Kong 2023.
District Installation was held on July 8, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Presidential Collar was ceremoniously passed on by Immediate Past President Eliza to President Jason.
