Rotaract Club of HKU Lap-Chee College International conducted its Installation Ceremony 2022-23 on September 21. Congratulations to President Thomas! The ceremony started with the Rotaract Song, followed by our Charter President Patrick’s speech. District Rotaract Chair Henry Wong, District Rotaract Representative Wayne, and Professor MF also presented their speech before the pinning ceremony. President Elect Jason was President Eliza’s representative during the Ceremony. President Thomas then gave a presentation on the past events in 2021/22 and the year plan for 2022/23. After the ceremony, some of them went out for a fellowship dinner.

President Sam and Charter President Patrick joined Lap Chee College’s High Table Dinner on November 5. This was the first such dinner in a year and a half. Master of the College, our Honorary Member MF Yuen, welcomed everyone to the dinner. Professor Tsui Lap Chee, in his name-sake college, and Charter President Patrick presented gowns to several Lap Chee students. Professor Tsui gave the keynote speech. Past President of Rotaract Club of HKU Lap Chee College International, Sally Oh, is now a tutor of the college and is working on student development matters on campus. Crystal Lee, fellow of the College, was excited to share some of the plans of the Rotaract Club this year.
On June 21, our Board met for the 12th and final time in RY2020-21. Board members mainly made sure that handover to the incoming Board would be smooth, and that all lingering issues were dealt with. Thereafter, a small dinner gathering was held. Quite a few members and their spouses attended, including Honorary Member Vivien Lau, as well as our new Honorary Member Professor MF Yuen. President Elect Sam brought to the occasion 3 bottles of whisky with a varied flavor profile. Others brought wines, ranging from classic French Margaux and St. Emilion, to a Chinese cabernet from Yunnan, China.

Professor Tim Tong, our Honorary Member, joined our meeting. Amy and Catherine also joined. Rotarian Eliza joined from her quarantine hotel with makeshift Christmas gear. The “regular” meeting was anything but regular: in addition to the regular reporting of Club and District activities, it functioned as our Club’s second assembly of the Rotary year, our annual general meeting, and our annual Christmas party. It would also be our Club’s first ever online AGM, first ever online Christmas party, and, amazingly, despite having weathered near a year of pandemic, our first ever online assembly. At the beginning of our meeting, Past President Dora announced the passing of Past President Feeling (Rotary Club of Taoyuan Southeast). Those who knew Past President Feeling personally would most certainly agree that Past President Feeling was a most generous and warm person, a loving mother, a dear wife and a committed Rotarian. Past President Dora gave a long and heart-felt tribute to our beloved sister, who has been a bedrock of warmth and love to…

Welcome Professor Yuen to the world of Rotary!
