On November 13, Club Installation of Interact Club of King’s College was held on their Bonham Road campus. Members in attendance to support the Kingsians were: President Jason, Charter President Patrick, Past President Kay, Past President Mark, and Rotarian Ka Man.
On November 11, after our vocational visit to Ronald McDonald House, our service day at Holy Cafe and fellowship lunch thereafter, some members changed to more formal clothing and attended the Club Installation of Rotaract Club of HKU Lap-Chee College International, who gave us a comprehensive report of past year’s activities and an outline of what they plan to do in the coming year.
November 4, President Jason, Past President Grace and her family, Past President Dora and her friends, Past President Mark, Rotarian Ka Man and her dad, participated in a charity walk organized by Suicide Prevention Services and Past President Lily. It was a very sunny and warm day, perfect for an easy walk around Clear Water Bay Golf and Country Club. Apart from our members from our Club, there were other Rotarians, including Past District Governors YC Ho and Eric Chak, and members from other Clubs. Past President Lily also invited Assistant Governor Roy Tang, a past contestant of “中年好聲音”, to perform after the charity walk.
On September 24, President Jason, Past President Lily, President Elect David, Rotarian Ka Man, Rotary-Anns Coco and Sara, together with RCC HSU Patrick SC Poon Amity College and Master Dr Thomas Man, and friends, have joined hands to visit elderly in public housing in Kwun Tong and Kwai Tsing Districts.
On July 27, our Club met for lunch at Regal Hongkong Hotel. Our newest member Rotarian Wong Ka Man gave us a very informative vocational talk on insurance and actuarial science. Charter President Patrick also revealed a number of high-level insurance industry strategies. We would love to have Charter President Patrick to give us a separate talk on this!
The 63rd District Conference was held on May 20-21, 2023, at Regala Skycity Hotel. Many of our members attended: President Eliza, Past District Governor Belinda, Past Presidents WT, Angela, Dora, Ricky, Lily and Mark, and Rotarian Ka Man. Past District Governor Belinda chaired the Foundation sessions, while President Eliza managed the Preserve Planet Earth breakout. Past President Lily was on hand at the leaders’ lunch on the first day, while Past President Angela led group discussions during a Diversity Equity and Inclusion breakout. Past President Dora was in the Conference Organizing Committee, managing the conference floor and banquet. President Eliza also reported that she was part of the welcoming party that received our Mongolian Rotarians at the airport the day before the Conference.
While President Eliza and others were in Taipei attending Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen’s 25th Anniversary Party in Taipei, Past District Governor Belinda, Past President Grace, Past President Eddie, Past President Lily, Past President Mark, President Nominee David and Rotarian Ka Man in Hong Kong attended District Training Assembly. Some ofthem were representing their respective District Committees on stage as speakersas well. Also, President Nominee David, on behalf of President Elect Jason voted for the District 3450 budget 2023/24.
A new Rotary Community Corps (RCC) is born! RCC of Patrick SC Poon Amity College!The inaugural ceremony was hosted at the Patrick SC Poon Amity College. The ceremony was attended by District Governor Norman, Charter President Patrick, President Eliza, Immediate Past President Sam, Past President Grace, Rotarian Fei and Rotarian Ka Man from Rotary side together with Master Thomas Man and his senior team, and of course the RCC members. RCC President Simon shared their 2023/24 activity plan to us with the upcoming elderly service on May 29! We look forward to their services to the local community with Rotary’s mottoes Service Above Self and One Profit Most Who Serve the Best!
A relaxing and fun-filled 36th Club Anniversary party was successfully held at Regala Skycity Hotel on March 25, 2023. The party was attended by over 65 Club membersand guests. District Governor Norman Lee, District Governor Elect Andy Li, District Governor Nominee Nigel Lo, District Officers, and 20 members from our three sister clubs — Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen, Rotary Club of Taoyuan Southeast and Rotary Club of Pudu. The highlights of event were the sister-club signing ceremony with all three sister clubs to continue our partnership to do GOOD for the community; new memberinduction for Rotarian Ka Man Wong; the pinning of new Paul Harris Fellows and multi-Paul Harris Fellows for President Eliza Ning, Past President Grace Yen, Past President Eddie Leung, Past President Webster Ng and Rotary Ann Coco. What’s more? A party of 35 Rotarians and family members joined the Lantau tour on nextday which further fostered bonding among all. Last but not least, we thank our President Elect Jason Ling for his great leadership of the dinner, and we are looking forward to our next anniversary celebration with many more Club members and friends!!
President Eliza as the District PPE Chair together with our to-be-pinned new member Ka Man and her family attended tree planting at Tai Po Fung Yuen where the Reserve is home to approximately 220 species of butterflies out of 245 in Hong Kong. In total, the group planted 67 bushes contributing to the preservation of the Reserve and its unique ecosystem. The event was not just helping carbon reduction but also pollination.
