This year we have injected a bit more new ideas to our celebration week, by taking all our members and sister clubs to Macau for a weekend retreat, authentic Portuguese cuisine, and a tour around Macau city. District Governor Andy and Jane, District Governor Elect Nigel and Flora and little Raphael, and some Rotarians from Macau have joined our banquet on March 23 too. We wish to thank our incredible Organizing Committee,including President Elect David, Past President Eddie, Past President Grace, Past President Dora, Past President Ricky, Past President Lily, Past President Mark, Past President Sam P, and Rotarian Ka Man, and our good friend Past President Elizabete Fong of Rotary Club of Macau for making it such an enjoyable get-together.
On March 17, Island Scout Trail Walk 2024 was successfully held. Island Scout Trail Walk 2024 was organized by Hong Kong Scouts Island Region and co-organized by our Club. District Governor Andy joined to present the Rotary Club of Hong Kong Harbour Trophy to the top team.
The latest Governor’s Kitchen, presented by District Public Image Committee, features Past District Governor Belinda, as well as District Governor Andy Li, Past District Governor Keith Chow and Immediate Past District Governor Norman Lee.
On November 18, many Club members attended Intercity Meeting 2023, including: Charter President Patrick and Wendy, Past District Governor Belinda, Past Presidents Grace, Dora, Lily, and Mark. Charter President and Wendy were recognized on stage as our District’s all-time top donors in a special recognition session presided by Rotary International President Gordon McInally and District Governor Andy Li.
On November 6, our Club was delighted to take part in 4-Clans Meeting. 16 Rotary Clubs under our mother club’s genealogical umbrella joined! Guest speaker of the evening was Ms Bonnie Chiu, a Rotary Scholar who shared her experience with Rotary Scholarship! On occasion, we celebrated District Governor Andy Li’s birthday with a tailor-made birthday cake.
On 26 October, 2023, our Club co-hosted a Joint Club meeting with four other Rotary Clubs: Rotary Club of Hong Kong Northeast, Rotary Club of Hong Kong Bayview, Rotary E-Club of Lantau and Rotary Club of The HUB Hong Kong. We invited Ms Bonnie So, CEO and Secretary General of Hong Kong Red Cross, who shared in-depth ideas on the topic: “An integrated approach on community resilience”. We all benefited and got inspired by Bonnie’s speech.
On 18 October 2023, our Club joined hands with six other Rotary Clubs in Area 3 to conduct a District Governor’s visit for RY2023-2024. Nearly 100 guests attended which made it a great event for Area 3. District Governor Andy Li has provided our Board with a lot of encouragement and ideas.
On September 28, our Assistant Governor Leo Yu visited our Club to share RI President and District Governor’s vision for the year, as well as the latest updates of the District. Two former members, Past President Theresa and ex-member Ada Leung also joined. A visiting Rotarian, Suzanne Cook, of Rotary Club of Brampton, Canada, also joined us. Rotarian Suzanne shared a bit of her background, her Rotary Club’s projects as well as her plans for the upcoming two weeks in Hong Kong. We wish her a great rest of the trip. On occasion, President Jason also exchanged club flags with Rotarian Suzanne, thus adding to our prized collection of club flags from around the world! Heeding Honorary Member Vivien’s call, members donated shoes, clothing and stationery to Good Fortune and Wisdom International Charity Fund, who will send all those items to Kenya. A relaxing and fun-filled 36th Club Anniversary party was successfully held at Regala Skycity Hotel on March 25, 2023. The party was attended by over 65 Club membersand guests. District Governor Norman Lee, District Governor Elect Andy Li, District Governor Nominee Nigel Lo, District Officers, and 20 members from our three sister clubs — Rotary Club of Taipei Mingmen, Rotary Club of Taoyuan Southeast and Rotary Club of Pudu. The highlights of event were the sister-club signing ceremony with all three sister clubs to continue our partnership to do GOOD for the community; new memberinduction for Rotarian Ka Man Wong; the pinning of new Paul Harris Fellows and multi-Paul Harris Fellows for President Eliza Ning, Past President Grace Yen, Past President Eddie Leung, Past President Webster Ng and Rotary Ann Coco. What’s more? A party of 35 Rotarians and family members joined the Lantau tour on nextday which further fostered bonding among all. Last but not least, we thank our President Elect Jason Ling for his great leadership of the dinner, and we are looking forward to our next anniversary celebration with many more Club members and friends!!
District Governor Norman Lee, accompanied by Governor Elect Andy Li, Assistant Governor Brian Ho, District Secretaries Rosa Tam and Joseph Yim visited our Club on November 10, 2022. He joined our Club’s lunch meeting after his meeting withour board members. At the lunch meeting, DG made his speech. He started by telling the purpose of his visit, understanding our club’s year plan from the board members; to meet with members of the club and to deliver some key messages. He then talked about matters in different areas. In general, he asked members to rethink ‘’Service Above Self “. About the year theme “Imagine Rotary”, he reminded members Rotary International President’s ideas: to make projects bigger and more impactful; care more for members. He went on talked about several projects and matters in Rotary District 3450: “Student Ambassador Awards” – This recent project received good support from government departments. It focuses on “What we may do to help the society”. District Governor Norman encouraged Rotarians to work more with Rotaractors. “Virtual Rotary Exchange for Youth” – This project was piloted by Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island East.
