On March 9, the Heats for the 7th Secondary School Peer Mediation Competition were held. Past President Mark, as Organizing Committee Chair of the event, reported that our Club had a strong presence, including Past President WT, who were one of the judges, President Jason, who was one of the volunteers responsible for the sign-in desk, and Immediate Past President Eliza, who as a past Chair of the event managed to hop around different rooms to check on progress.
On February 20 and 27, on two consecutive Tuesdays, the Rotaract Club of HKU Lap Chee College International organized career workshops for their members. Our Past President Angela was the speaker for their second workshop, focusing on interview skills, while Past President Sam’s friend Bernard Wong of Korn Ferry shared with students the topic of CV and cover letter building. Also, President Jason, Past Presidents Grace, Sam and Mark, President Elect David, Rotarian Ka Man, Mr. Charles Poon and Ms. Diana Au-Yeung came to help as interviewers.
On February 25, President Jason and Rotarian Ka Man, and her lovely son Chun Yu attended the Blind Bowling Tournament which is an annual event for our Club and our Interactors. This year we have been joined by nearly 10 members from Interact Club of King’s College, and 4 members from the Rotaract Club of HKU Lap-Chee College International. And we got some really good bowlers from Lap-Chee, who has won individual champion and also 1st runner up for his team! Congratulations!
On February 22, our Club had its 16th regular Club meeting of the Rotary Year. We invited our very own Rotarian Sammy (區仲德師傅) to tell us about our Fortunes for 2024. Also, all our members are fortunate enough to receive gifts from 區師傅 as well as re-useable food containers from Past District Governor Belinda.
On February 8, our Club hosted its 15th regular Club meeting of the Rotary Year. Dr. Czarina Leung came to talk to us about Be Priceless, a health education nonprofit that empowers children to flourish sustainably, inclusively and equitably. Dr. Leung is a 2023 winner of The ONE Hong Kong Humanitarian Award.
On January 28, President Jason observed an eye-check session at Caritas Tsuen Wan as part of our District Grant project with Caritas and Rotary Club of The HUB Hong Kong. President Tony of Rotary Club of The HUB Hong Kong was also in attendance.
On January 27, 18 Interactors from the Interact Club of St. Clare’s Girls’ School were given CPR/AED training at St. John’s Ambulance. Rotarian Ka Man was there to support them.
On January 27, District Peace Committee in collaboration with Rotary Action Group for Peace Hong Kong and Macao Chapter hosted a Peace Workshop, featuring among others our very own Rotary spouse Maurice Yeung! In attendance included Past District Governor Belinda, Past President Grace and of course Past President Angela, Maurice’s better half.
On January 25, we hosted our 14th regular lunch meeting of the Rotary Year. We invited our old friend and former member Prof Kelvin Yeung to talk about his various roles in serving the community. Also, Past President Peter has been kind enough to prepare Fai Chun for us for charity sales; we raised over HKD4,000 for our red box!
On January 11, our Club met for the 13th time in this Rotary Year. Our speaker was Immediate Past President Maggie Ma of Rotary E-Club of Tamar. She talked about her vocation and passion: diamonds!
